I’m Mark Whitelock, a photographer based in the North East of England, specialising in dance, portraits, events and weddings.
My approach is relaxed, unobtrusive and focused on capturing genuine moments, natural expression and the atmosphere of the occasion. Whether I’m photographing a performance, a portrait session or an important event, the aim is always to create images that feel authentic and that people will want to return to over time.
Much of my work centres on people and the moments that matter to them — from dance photography and family portraits to celebrations, performances and live events. I look to create photographs that are both natural and carefully considered, balancing storytelling with strong composition and attention to detail.
Alongside my commissioned photography, I also photograph wildlife, landscapes and aurora. That personal work has broadened my eye for light, timing and atmosphere, and it continues to influence the way I approach all of my photography. Some of this work has also been sold as prints.
Whether I’m photographing people, places or fleeting natural light, the focus is always the same: to create images with feeling, presence and lasting value.
